An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Key Account Manager to join the Online Sales team at Penguin Random House, working with the Vintage team.

The Online Sales team is a core part of the Penguin Random House Group Sales department. Working with all our publishing houses across a diverse range of publishing, we maximise sales of our titles through all online retail channels, both at home and internationally. We are looking for an Online Key Account Manager to join us on a permanent basis.

As Online Key Account Manager, you will be responsible for growing physical and digital sales, through online platforms including Amazon, Apple and Spotify. You will drive revenue through strong merchandising placement, strategic use of promotions and enhanced discoverability on retailer platforms for books across all formats: print, ebook and audio.

This exciting role will be the primary online ambassador for the Vintage business. You will work alongside the publishing teams across editorial, publicity and marketing to deliver the very best results for our books and authors. With a catalogue of over 6,000 titles, Vintage publishes some of the world’s most thought-provoking, unforgettable, beautifully designed books – from contemporary trailblazers to our red-spine Vintage Classics. This means that our broad family of authors ranges from world-class prize-winners to emerging talent, including Nigella Lawson, Toni Morrison, Margaret Atwood, Jo Nesbo, Yuval Noah Harari, Gabrielle Zevin and Ian McEwan.

This role will suit someone who is commercially minded, with a keen interest in publishing and online retail, and who is passionate about connecting books and consumers. Experience in driving sales growth through online platforms is advantageous but not essential.

Key responsibilities:

  •  Work effectively with online retailers to provide compelling sales information on key titles and to plan joined up pricing and marketing activity.
  • Proactively build successful relationships with internal stakeholders from different teams throughout the business.
  • Work closely with colleagues in the Online Sales team to continually learn and adapt new strategies to maximise sales online.
  • Collaborate closely with publishing teams, acting as a champion for best practice in the online world, to maximise discovery and sales of all titles.
  • Attend publishing team meetings, share regular sales reporting and commercial insights to inform publishing strategy.
  • Plan digital and print online retail price promotions and work with marketing teams to maximise their effectiveness.
  • Liaise with the Sales Operations team to help ensure that your titles have optimal positioning on site, removing any friction to purchase.
